The fate of intra-EU BITs and the new MIC

On 30th January 2020 the 5th EFILA Annual Conference took place in London. 150 participants listened to keynote speaker Meg Kennear (SG of ICSID) and discussed alternatives to the intra-EU BITs, which are about to be terminated.

The next day, I gave a guest lecture at Queen Mary University of London on the same topic.

On 21 February, I will be speaking at the 5th conference of the Belgium chapter of the Club del Espanyol del Arbitraje entitled A new landscape for EU law and arbitration Challenges and opportunities in Brussels.

On 5 March, I will be debating at the LSE in London the usefulness of the creation of the Multilateral Investment Court (MIC), which is currently negotiated in the UNCITRAL Working Group III.

At the end of March, I will be attending as Secretary General of EFILA the next UNCITRAL Working Group III meeting in New York.

Meanwhile, I am working on a new ISDS case with NautaDutilh against a Balkan state.

In addition, several articles are have been  submitted or will be submitted in due course.
